UMass Lowell’s Theatre Arts Program will be presenting “Lady Windermere’s Fan” in the Comley-Lane Theatre at Mahoney Hall this week.
The play, having been first published in 1893, is Oscar Wilde’s first hit comedy. It centers around titular character Lady Windermere who thinks her husband is having an affair with another woman. After she confronts her husband about it, he invites the other woman to his wife’s birthday ball.
The four-act play satires Victorian society in the 1800s and its rules about love, marriage and the like, something Wilde focuses on in many of his comedies.
The play will be taking place April 15-18 at 7:30 p.m. and April 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for students and seniors are $5 and general admission tickets are $10. Seating is limited, so advance ticket reservations are recommended; to reserve, contact Reserve.play.tickets.uml@gmail.com. Tickets are cash only at the door.
