If Miranda King could give her future children any piece of advice, she would tell them not to waste their time trying to keep up with everyone around them.

“All my friends are juniors. I could be a junior right now, but I took two gap years, and I was like, ‘I’m in no rush’,” she said.

King is a freshman, 20-years-old and an exercise science major. She takes life one step at a time, with the philosophy that everything will work out in due time.

“Everyone thinks that their life is over in 10 years. There is a lot of life left,” King said.

Even in her dreams, King makes the best of any situation. “I had a dream, I think kind of recently actually,” said King. “I was at an amusement park with people I do not like. And that’s all I can tell you about it, is that I did not like them.” Even surrounded by people she dislikes, King said she still had a great time in her dream.

King says if she could be any object or animal, she would choose to be a lion. “I just like lions. There’s really no reason why,” said King.

Although she may be drawn towards lions, King’s confidence is expressed much quieter. If there is one thing she hates, it is loud noises. She cannot stand when people are yelling. “I hate it. It just bothers me, makes me very mad actually,” she said.

She chooses to remain calm and collected, patiently observing her surroundings. Her super power of choice, if possible, would be invisibility. “I don’t know, you can just kind of creep in on things,” said King.

Her use of self-deprecating humor and ability to not take life so seriously are part of what makes King’s mindset  enticing.

“No one wants to see me.”
