Roommate Wars Part II: The Dirty Girl

To live on campus means to endure a tiny room with one other person, your roommate.

My friend Blaire and her roommate got along pretty well. They went to the dining hall most nights and frequently took runs around campus together. However Meredith had a cleanliness issue.

Meredith was the girl who never showered. Meredith grew up near Vermont on a farm and was a real pleasure to be around, when you were in open air.

She was an athlete on the field hockey team with a major in business and minor in French. There was no doubt that she was extremely busy and after a long day would pass out in bed without the thought of showering.

The next morning she would simply throw her sweat filled clothes on the floor and keep it moving. Every other day or two Meredith would find the time to shower but that just wasn’t enough.

Blaire obviously didn’t want to say anything so she discreetly placed air fresheners all over their room. And even “accidentally” bought an extra clothes hamper for her friend to place her clothes in.

The hamper turned out to be a success and there were no longer dirty clothes on the ground. So Blaire’s second attempt was to work on the showering problem.

One night Blaire and Meredith went on a run around campus. When they got back to their dorm, Meredith plopped herself on her bed.
Blaire thought this is as good a time as any and made a suggestion to her dear roommate.

“Hey I am heading to the showers you coming?” asked Blaire.

“No I am all set just heading to bed,” Meredith said while crawling under the covers.

Blaire, left her room defeated that night.

Although Meredith used her clothes hamper, she barely had time to wash them.

During winter break Blaire tried her best to attempt to live at home for the Spring semester because she couldn’t stand her living conditions.

The housing department said, “there are no refunds” and the next day Blaire made it a point to purchase a Lysol machine that sprayed every 15 minutes.
