WUML Dance For Tots 2014 this Friday, Dec. 5

LOWELL − In planning their biggest show of the year, WUML has decided to rebrand this year’s “Rock for Tots” show as an EDM show. “Rock for Tots,” which benefits local charities for the holidays, is being rebranded as “Dance for Tots,” hosting a wide array of EDM artists. The show, which will be on Dec 5 at 7 p.m., will take place at Cumnock Hall at 1 University Ave. in Lowell, Mass.

“We wanted to rebrand Rock for Tots this year to truly show our musical diversity here at WUML,” said WUML General Manager Matthew Denaro. “We hope to appeal more to the community by giving them something different this year, and we really want to give as much back as possible to the community that’s supported us over the years.”

“Dance for Tots” will feature many local acts, including JSTJR, SeamlessR, Siouxside, ABSRDST and Iudas, as well as New Jersey natives Synchronice. The show will boast a sound and light set-up that is unlike any previous “Rock for Tots” show, bringing the Lowell community something completely new from WUML.

The event is $10 pre-sale and $12 at the door. WUML will also be taking toy donations of toys with a value of $10 or more in return for a discount on ticket prices. All monetary proceeds will benefit the House of Hope, and all toy donations will go to the Department of Children and Families in Lowell.

WUML is a non-commercial radio station founded in 1952, located at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The station, which is completely student-run, primarily promotes underground and local artists, providing them with airtime they would otherwise not receive.

The station also strives to be a voice for UMass Lowell students and the Lowell community.
