On Thursday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m., the UMass Lowell English department will be hosting a Writers on Campus event. It will be in the O’Leary Library Auditorium, Room 222, and it is open to the public. It is being advertised as a night of poetry and prose.

In the past, the Writers on Campus event has hosted authors such as E.J. Levy, who read from her collection of short stories entitled “Love, In Theory,” and poets David Rivard and Rebecca Morgan Franks. For this upcoming Writers on Campus event, poet Duy Doan and fiction writer Jowhor Ile will be reading from their recently released works.

A press release from the UMass Lowell English department gave this information about the two visiting writers:

“Duy Doan is the author of ‘We Play a Game,’ winner of the 2017 Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize. A Vietnamese American poet from Texas, he received an MFA from Boston University. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in ‘Poetry,’ ‘Poetry Northwest,’ ‘Slate’ and ‘TriQuarterly.’ He currently lives in Boston.

“Jowhor Ile’s debut novel ‘And After Many Days’ was awarded the Etisalat Prize for Literature 2016. His writing has appeared in ‘McSweeney’s Quarterly,’ ‘Lit Hub’ and ‘Litro Magazine.’ He earned his master of fine arts at Boston University and currently shares his time between Nigeria, where he grew up, and the U.S.”
